HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO US!

well folks, this is it - this editions comes on our 20th(!) birthday. 
framework radio began broadcasting on resonance fm in london on june 
14th, 2002, when a young joel stern and i first took our position behind 
the mics at the old denmark street studios. we sounded ridiculous, as 
you can hear here:

20 years later i can't say i sound any less ridiculous, but at least i 
have a lot of experience doing it. we can't quite believe we've made it 
this far, but we've kind of crossed the threshold of ever bothering to 
stop (we credit udo noll of the aporee soundmaps with convincing us of 
the importance and credibility of longevity). so - we're celebrating!

we're celebrating our 20th birthday (we can buy a gun now in america, 
but we can't have a beer yet) with some wonderful new sounds from shiny 
spinning discs by the great auf abwegen label - we met up with label 
boss till kniola in leverkusen, germany this past week for the first 
time in 19(!) years. we also saw stefan knappe there (drone records) for 
the first time in 18 years, and frans de waard (kormplastics) for the 
first time in 15 years.  if i'm doing the math correctly that makes us 
72 years old, which is hard to believe. good thing there weren't too 
many stairs to get into the venue.

anyway, yes, the shiny discs are by asmus tietchens (17 years) and 
reynols (19 years), and they're really good. i've never met any of the 
rest of this week's featured artists in person, so we can stop counting 
now, but the sounds here by kaisa lindgren, hiroko komiya & chris h. 
lynn, and una lee and suelynee ho each with peter wullen, are all highly 
appreciated. we also heard recent listener-chosen favorites from the 
aporee soundmaps, and an intro recorded in canada by james bailey.

again, we are always looking for new material, whether raw field 
recordings, field recording based composition, or introduction 
submissions. we are also now accepting proposals for full editions of 
our guest curated framework:afield series. send proposals or material, 
released or not, on any format, to the address at the bottom of this
