when we learned of matt shoemaker's passing last august we made a show 
in his memory, featuring our own selection of favorites from his 
impressive body of work. that show can be heard here:

since then many memorials have been in the planning, including an 
exhibition of his paintings, recordings and photographs that is up now 
at seattle’s jack straw new media gallery, and a memorial concert that 
is coming up in just a few weeks. i wish we could be there, but we are 
far from seattle. however, maybe you are not, and if that's the case we 
highly recommend you go and honor his memory and experience the work of 
an amazing gathering of artists.

and as their own memorial, the helen scarsdale agency is releasing two 
new cassettes by matt's psuedonym fosil sangiran, which we are featuring 
in this show. the cassettes will be released on may 18th, with preorders

passed on to the jack straw cultural center:

we selected several other recent releases to accompany matt's cassettes 
for this sonic journey, including another great release (available for 
download) by manja ristić, the latest cd from philip sulidae on the 
consistently impressive unfathomless label, and a wonderful collection 
of ambiances (also available for download) by patrick franke. we also 
made our usual selection of recent listener favorites from the aporee 
soundmaps, and it all began with a framework introduction provided by 
regular contributor (his latest edition of framework:afield aired last 
week) d. l. lutz.

again, we are always looking for new material, whether raw field 
recordings, field recording based composition, or introduction 
submissions. we are also now accepting proposals for full editions of 
our guest curated framework:afield series. send proposals or material, 
released or not, on any format, to the address at the bottom of this
