Anton Mobin - Hugh Davies Project Residency Performance -
Alex McLean (Livecoding), Benedict Taylor (viola) and Adrian Beentjes
(electronics)
Friday 11th March 7.30pm-9pm No Door Tax
Access Space, Sheffield
Access Space has been hosting Paris based musician and instrument builder
Anton Mobin as artist and instrument builder in residence.
Anton is building a new performance instrument ("Prepared Camber") based on
the ideas of British composer, experimental musician and musicologist Hugh
Davies (1943–2005). See below for more info on Hugh Davies.
These improvised performances bring together musicians from four different
areas of musical instrument creation, three of whom create their own music
making tools: Anton Mobin (mic-ed acoustic "prepared chamber"), Alex McLean
(performing with his own Livecoding software, Tidal), Adrian Beentjes (who
creates electronic instruments to his own design), and Benedict Taylor
(viola player and improviser).
About the performers:
Anton Mobin is an experimental musician, improviser and radio producer.
He has developed D.I.Y principles for experimental self-built instruments,
which he calls "Prepared Cambers", in which there are arranged a multitude
of every-day objects amplified by piezo-electric contact microphones.
Anton Mobin has run the label H.A.K. Lo-Fi Record since 2001.
