i love this week's show, if i do say so myself. i guess, unsurprisingly,
because i love so many of the sounds in it. frédéric nogray and yannick
dauby's first collaboration continues the experimentation yannick began
with his ini.itu release a couple of years ago, combining natural
recordings with surprisingly appropriate synth tracks (that time it was
frogs, this time it is birds and insects). absolute value of noise, who
we haven't heard from in a few years, have now presented us with a
collaboration with another friend of the show, anna friz (along with
glenn gear) that is especially suited to radio. a wonderful collection
of sounds from the aporee soundmaps fit in with these swimmingly, and
recent releases from celer and kate carr add a pleasing layer of texture
and melancholy. hope you enjoy it!
we also talked this week about the upcoming framework500 project! in
2009 we celebrated our 250th show with a 4cdr mega-release featuring a
giant swathe of our favorite artists. now, just over 5 years later, as
we approach our 500th (!) edition, we've invited a selection of those
artists back to contribute new works for a new release. the exact
details are still being worked out, but we can confirm a few of the
names involved: jeph jerman, eamon sprod, phill niblock, jonathan
coleclough and jez riley-french, among many others, have contributed new
works in support of framework radio, and in celebration of our 500th
edition, which will air at the end of next month. we will begin playing
the contributions in our 500th show, and publication of framework500,
available only through us directly to framework supporters, will follow
soon after. stay tuned for more info!
again, we are always looking for new material, whether raw field
recordings, field recording based composition, or introduction
submissions. we are also now accepting proposals for full editions of
our guest curated framework:afield series. send proposals or material,
released or not, on any format, to the address at the bottom of this
