 Meet the composer… Aaron Bennnett


Aaron Bennett's E.M.T.P.O. ensemble use the electro-magnetic field of their collective mind, tuned and amplified by means of unique "breathing chart" compositions in a special graphic notation which Aaron has designed for large improvising ensembles to focus and unleash aural energies. The resulting sound is like nothing else and has amazed audiences in a string of orgone-accelerating Bay Area performances over the last two years.

We're excited to premier Aaron's new works "5" and "Y", and may revisit some old standards such as "X"

◉ Gangsa: Electroacoustic Percussion by Chris Brown & Lightbulb Ensemble(Set 1, 8pm)

A masterwork of electro-percussivity — Philippine flat-gongs played in phasing rhythmic patterns while a computer creates interlocking transformations of their sounds in real time. Followed by improv.

Line-up: Chris Brown - piano & computers | Brian Baumbusch, Nava Dunkelman, Ryan Jobes, Scott Siler, Peter Sloan: gangsa

◉ Darren Johnston Trio +1(Set 2, 9pm)

Freshly fragmented improvisations, delicate ballads, and neo-Balkan копаница- played “outside”, “inside”, and “sideways”.
