FRANK LAMBERT : Experimental Talking Clock (1878)
Frank Lambert recorded "Experimental Talking Clock" in 1878 on his own  
invented Phonograph, which predated by a few months the more famous  
Edison one.
With its speed and back-masking effects on voices, and the rhythmical  
noise induced by hand-cranking, this may well be the first ever  
recorded experimental sound-art.
