#432: 2013.09.01
listen to this edition here:
http://www.frameworkradio.net/2013/09/432-2013-09-01/
greetings fair listeners! we are very happy to be back from our annual
break, diving again into the piles of sounds building up in the
framework studios, making new plans, planning new shows, warming our
ears by the fall fires. lots of things to tell you about - we'll try to
stagger our excitement so we don't hit you with it all at once.
first, this very week we are welcoming our newest broadcaster to the
fraemwork family! concertzender, in amsterdam, has joined the framework
fold, and we are very happy to be a part of their broadcast schedule.
theyw ill be airing 2 shows each week, from 5am to 7am each monday
morning, so you can start your week right. check out their great
programming, and particularly the link to our program group crosslinks,
here: http://www.concertzender.nl/.
then, of course, after many delays, framework:seasonal issue #5, summer
2013, the spectacular collection of location recordings by east midlands
tape recording clubs made in the '60s and '70s, curated by mark vernon,
began shipping just as we went on break. if you haven't picked one up
yet, do it now! you won't regret it, this is an amazing listen, and you
get to support framework radio to boot. meanwhile, behind the secret
curtain, we are now working on the details for issue #6, due out this
autumn, another great compilation featuring a collection of new and
familiar names. more details on that in the coming weeks!
also, we have finally begun working on a new project, inspired by our
good friends at the aporee soundmaps. as you know, each regular edition
begins with a listener recorded introduction. we've been doing this for
years, and so now have a collection of hundreds of framework intros
recorded all over the world in many different languages, and we've been
wondering what to *do* with this treasure trove. well, we're now working
on an intro map, where you can browse the globe and listen to the intros
situated at the sites where they were recorded. we're just beginning;
we've only got 2 intros up there so far, but if you'd like a sneak peak:
http://www.frameworkradio.net/intro-map/
of course, we need your help with this. if you have *ever* recorded a
framework introduction, we'd love to hear from you with the following info:
1) date and time of your recording (if known)
2) exact location of your recordings (with GPS coordinates if possible)
it will be a slow process, but we hope to eventually get them all up there.
but on to the show - this one features some recent favorites: yannick
dauby's duets for frogs ans synthesizer, sala's exploration of my own
adopted region, chris watson's time-induced sound portrait, ian m. rawes
digging into the dark corners of london, and kim walker's time at the
seaside, all begun with a framework introduction recorded for us by our
most prolific intro recorder ever - good luck compiling all those GPS
coordinates for me, martin! ;) - martin clarke.
again, we are always looking for new material, whether raw field
recordings, field recording based composition, or introduction
submissions. we are also now accepting proposals for full editions of
our guest curated framework:afield series. send proposals or material,
released or not, on any format, to the address at the bottom of this
mail. if you have any questions, please don't hesitate to get in touch!
