#396: 2012.11.11

a second edition of our new occasional format, framework:ephemera. in 
each edition of framework:ephemera, which will be produced whenever 
possible, travels and meetings permitting, will feature selections from 
the personal collection of an invited guest, and commentary from our 
guest along with a visit to his/her home or studio. the first, let's say 
'pilot', edition was aired two weeks ago from the home of yannick dauby 
in taipei, taiwan. this one was produced in southeastern pennsylvania in 
the studio of scott sherk.

scott is a sculptor and sound artist who teaches in the art department 
at muhlenberg college in allentown, pennsylvania. his new work new york 
glyptic, has just been released on the 3 leaves label from hungary. he 
selected some great works from his shelves that have inspired and 
impressed him over the years, and talked to us about about his studio 
space, the third barn. scott's selections included magnetic sound walks 
from christina kubisch, synthesized field recording transformations from 
andrew deutsch, a bus tunnel recorded by robert carlberg, improvisations 
with his own sonic sculptures by harry bertoia, and a bit of singing in 
the forest by the revenant project. to accompany these i selected a few 
excerpts from scott's 3 leaves release, as well as an unreleased 
recording he made recently during the hurricane that hit the east coast 
of the united states.

again, we are always looking for new material, whether raw field 
recordings, field recording based composition, or introduction 
submissions. we are also now accepting proposals for full editions of 
our guest curated framework:afield series. send proposals or material, 
released or not, on any format, to the address at the bottom of this
