#400! 2012.12.09
another landmark, folks, as we hit our 400th, yes, 400th!, edition of
framework radio. it was already 150 shows ago that we published the epic
framework250 4 cd compilation, which spawned the framework:seasonal
series, which is already on it's 3rd issue. we couldn't have done it
without you, but of course, we continue to need your support - it's the
holiday season, so now is the perfect time to show your generosity and
support framework radio, donate now, and pick up one or more of the
great framework:seasonal releases as presents for the whole family! what
would grandma like better than two-and-a-half hours of rainforest sounds
by chris watson?? nothing!!!
for our 400th edition we continued our new framework:ephemera series
(our last for awhile, as we're now back home and hoping to stay put for
awhile) in the home and studio of our good friend gill arno in brooklyn
new york. gill is an italian-born, u.s.-based sound and visual artist,
and curator or the performance and virtual space fotofono, and the
record label unframed. gill made a great selection from the piles of cds
laying on his desk, cooked us a wonderful lunch, and talked us through
the whole deal. thanks for having us, gill, we think it's a great show!
gill chose sounds by: ernst karel, a nice coincidence, since ernst was
our gust for our last edition of framework:ephemera; paul dickinson, the
famous 'sleep-talker', who has been recording himself talking in his
sleep for almost 30 years; and many friends, new york residents, and
passers-through, including simon whetham (with mise en scene), andrew
lafkas, dion workman (with mattin), agnes, wolfgang gil, and chinese
sound artist yan jun. for more information on gil and his projects, see:
http://www.m-i-c-r-o.net/mpld
http://www.fotofono.net
http://www.unframedrecordings.net
again, we are always looking for new material, whether raw field
recordings, field recording based composition, or introduction
submissions. we are also now accepting proposals for full editions of
our guest curated framework:afield series. send proposals or material,
released or not, on any format, to the address at the bottom of this
mail. if you have any questions, please don't hesitate to get in touch!
