an evening celebrating 10 years of french label Bip Hop at
Dalston's Cafe Oto, with the label's founder Philippe
Petit. [This coincides with a free CD, given away with the March
issue of the Wire magazine, of Philippe's collaborations with a
wide range artists.]

PHILIPPE PETIT
Based in Marseille, France, where he started
Djing on radio shows and editing and writing for
zines in the 80s, and into the 90s, In 1991, he
started Kinetic Vibes Music, a Garage Punk zine
and label, and then in 1993 founded the
experimental label Pandemonium Rdz, working with
the likes of Guapo, Melt Banana, and Spaceheads.
Petit's BiP_HOp label was born in 2000, releasing
music by Scanner, Angel, Si-cut.db, Iris
Garrelfs, Rothko, Bela Emerson, Spaceheads,
Twine, David Toop and Janek Schaefer amongst
others. DJing internationally as
Dj/ip at bip-hop.com, Petit recently started the
live collaboration project Strings Of
Consciousness, which
has already released two albums.

AGF [aka Antye Greie]
AGF is an East German singer and digital
songwriter, producer, performer, e-poet,
calligrapher, and digital media artist. Her
projects include installations, the German
electronic duo LAUB, The Lappetites, AGF/ DELAY
(with Vladislav Delay), THE DOLLS (Vladislav
Delay and Craig Armstrong) and Zavoloka/AG,
collaborations with Craig Armstrong, Ellen
Allien, Gudrun Gut, Eliane Radigue, Kaffe
Matthews. In 2004 she won an Award of Distinction
at the 2004 Ars Electronica festival, and in 2006
she was on the cover of the Wire magazine UK. AGF
lives and works in Berlin and Hailuoto/ Finland.

SIMON FISHER TURNER
Simon Turner, is a musician, songwriter, composer
and actor. After dabbling with pop stardom in the
early 70s, Simon has become an internationally
renown film soundtrack composer - writing music
for several of Derek Jarman films such as Blue &
Carravagio, and also recent films such as Lava,
I'll Sleep When I'm Dead, William Eggleston in
the Real World, Nadja and Un Chant D'amour. Simon
is now also known as an established avant garde
figure, with albums on the Mute label.

IRIS GARRELFS and DOUGLAS BENFORD
Iris Garrelfs is best known for her emotive,
improvised glitch-tech performances based around
electronically manipulated and digitally warped
voice sounds as well as site specific,
multi-channel installations. The central theme of
her work is the tension of the human and
technology. Her album Specified Encounters was
released on BipHop. International performaces and
residences, including London's Royal Academy. She
also on the board of the Sonic Arts Network, runs
workshops and has hosted radio shows on Resonance
FM. Douglas Benford aka SI-CUT.DB, has
collaborated with Stephan Mathieu, Rechenzentrum,
and Ben Edwards [as 'Tennis'] amongst others,
with music available on labels Bip Hop, Highpoint
Lowlife, and 12x50. Benford has performed at
festivals internationally (Mutek, Transmediale,
Synch etc) and also venues such as Tate Modern
and the ICA.
