the last regular edition of this fine year of 2008 - we have one more 
show this year, our last */framework:afield/*, coming next week, 
produced by *ruben garcia* and *slavek kwi* (who's project *artificial 
memory trace*, coincidentally, is also featured in this edition) and 
featuring the *mamori sound project*, an artist residency in the 
amazonian rain forest organised each year by *francisco lopez*.  a fine 
way to end the year.  meanwhile this week we explored the site specific 
recordings of *murmur*; please note the pair of u's therein!  this, for 
once, is not an exercise in self-promotion, this is in fact another 
murmur altogether, a group in the u.s. that records site-specific 
instrumental improvisations, for this album inside a fermentation tank 
in an old distillery.  these went well with another one of *dan 
warburton*'s sound walks, the aforementioned artificial memory trace, 
and a few tracks from maine's enthralling *crank sturgeon* - i played a 
gig with matt earlier this year in paris and his performance was 
exceptional, and to my great pleasure there are a few tracks on the cdr 
he gave me that i could get away with playing on a field-recording radio 
show.

so - happy new year everyone!  here's to a fine 2009!
