London’s new experimental music night
ELECTROMANIA: A NIGHT OF SONIC EXPLORATIONS
Thursday 19 April, 8pm
ICA, The Mall, London SW1Y 5AH
spnm's The Sound Source comes to the ICA after a season entertaining
club audiences in Shoreditch. The first event in the 2007 series
features the UK's next generation of sonic explorers.
In a multimedia extravaganza, the bar and theatre will be filled with
music for instruments and interactive electronics, experimental films,
performance DJs, and multichannel sonic artworks. The programme includes
Pierre-Alexandre Tremblay's Opus Prize-winning La Rage for free jazz
drummer and octophonic electronics, featuring drummer Ståle Birkeland,
Thomas Gardner's Lipsync for cello and interactive electronics, and Owen
Green's And There Is Danger In The Air for objects and interactive
electronics.
The evening will also feature sonic artworks from Adam Stansbie, Peiman
Khosravi, Sarah Mackenzie, Martin Stig Andersen, Helena Gough, Ian
Stewart and Ambrose Seddon, as well as experimental films by Samantha
Rebello, Gordon Delap/Antonin De Bemels and Jacob Ballinger. Gung
Who,Composite Group and Hamster Ate My Garage Band will be performing in
the bar, along with DJs John Power and Digitonal. The event is curated
by Ian Stewart and Ambrose Seddon.
