[Microsound-announce] Sept 12+13: NY Phonography Meetings

performance announcement, NYC- USA . . .

two phonography concerts happening this week in NY.

Tuesday Sept 12 in soho, NYC as a part of Koen Holtkamp's "Inside/ 
Outside- Field recordings and Feedback".  Sawako, Civyiu Kkliu and  
myself will each perform solo work based in phonography and close  
with a group improvisation. The day's performance also includes field  
recording works from Koen Holtkamp, Aki Onda, and Greg Davis.
Wednesday Sept 13 is part I of this years NY Phonographers Meeting's.
two one hour sets of unprocessed field recordings mixed and presented  
live, recordings collected from all corners of the world and  
presented in Brooklyn's favorite of round space's, Issue Project Room.

Outside/Inside focuses on various sound artists and musicians who
utilize enviromental recordings as a main element in their
compositions and improvisations. The day will feature long form live
performances by four diverse artists/groups including NY Phonographers
Meeting +- (feat Ben Owen, Sawako & Civyiu Kkliu), Koen Holtkamp
(Apestaartje, Mountains), Aki Onda (Softl, Improvised Music from
Japan) & Greg Davis (Kranky, Carpark) + a few special guests.

Wed September 13, 2006: NY Phonographers Meeting I _ Issue Project  
Room, 8 pm

The NY Phonographers Meeting's are a series of annual concert's  
presenting un-processed or raw location and field recordings in a  
collaborative immersive listening environment.

The group of performers meet each year as a part of a growing  
worldwide interest in making field recordings of everyday sounds and  
unusual sonic events with inexpensive, high-fidelity portable  
recorders.  The concerts focus is to present un-manipulated  
recordings in their true form, each participant mixing 10 minutes of  
sound, one into the next, creating a long duration immersive  
listening environment.

Gathered from a range of human environments, these field recordings  
range
from verite documents of urban spaces to microscopic details of  
water, to the very quiet woods to corrugated airport walkways.

participants include: tom mulligan, seth cluett, richard garet, andy  
graydon
bruce tovsky, mike rosenthal, gill arno, stephan moore, ben owen ,  
scott smallwood, sawako, and michael farley. with an opening sound  
installation from ben owen.
