Jorge Martin has played with such noise/rock groups as Sleestak and
Unicorn. Co-proprietor of the Impala Cafe, a space for experimental
music performances (back in the mid to late 90s). Currently he does
sound-engineering duties at Beyond Baroque and events for SASSAS (as
well being an advisor to SASSAS). Jorge currently works at the
University of California, Irvine - Department of Biological Chemistry.
He is studying various aspects of Facioscapulohumeral Muscular Dystrophy
(FSH or FSHD). In addition to being a wireless network
technician at Downey Unified School District, Erik Hoffman is the
founder and sole proprietor of the very prolific experimental record
label Ground Fault Recordings. He has managed to release thirty titles
under the Ground Fault name, in a five-year period. He has also
collaboratively released seven other CDs with San Francisco based,
Auscultare Research and five book/CDs projects with Errant Bodies Press.
Ground Fault has managed to release some of the best experimental and
noise recordings at an amazingly low price. The Ground Fault Recordings
mail order catalog is a constantly changing selection currently
containing about 800 titles.

With a hand and ear in a variety of artistic genres, shea M gauer and
scott A peterson are busy men. They each spend their minimal free time
searching, capturing, processing, manipulating, producing, engineering,
and designing sounds for all applications. Their main musical output is
the ongoing experimental project smgsap, which presents an even blend of
electronic and analog textures, using a variety of sources from field
recordings, drones, musical & nonmusical sounds as well as manipulated
live audio and instruments. They have performed in and created sound
installations for numerous settings over the course of their six years
of working together. In addition to performing and recording as smgsap
they also host an experimental music series called "The Sounds Around"
under the name Parabolic Productions. The series takes place in a 5000
sq. ft. ballroom and kitchen space and utilizes the 20 ft. diameter dome
in the ceiling with speaker/audience placement for optimal reflection
and enhancement. They are also both active members of FLOOD, the Long
Beach based artist group that produces the annual SoundWalk event.
SoundWalk is a one night only event that sonically takes over the entire
neighborhood of the Arts District in Downtown Long Beach with indoor and
outdoor site-specific sound installations. Participants range from local
to international sound artists and each year a catalog & CD compilation
are produced for the event.

mem1
is a collaborative venture between cellist Laura Thomas-Merino & laptop
artist m. cera. In their improvisation-based performances, the cello is
manipulated using custom software built by cera in max/msp. Extended
cello technique is magnified by live signal processing, which is in turn
influenced by the sounds produced by the cello. The result is a subtle
electroacoustic hybrid that culminates not in a duet between two
individuals, but in a single performance by a fused and cohesive
instrument. Utilizing a limitless palate of sonic possibilities, mem1’s
sound is a constant evolution of textures ranging from sparse to dense,
ambient to beat-driven tranquil to volatile…the listener is submerged in
layers of distinctive, complex patterns which provide a focus not on
melody or lyricism but an opportunity to listen beyond such structural
confines. There is a sense of narrative, but one that unravels
organically, almost in slow motion. mem1 has performed with the
renowned Penderecki String Quartet and have recently been invited to
play at CEAIT 2006 at by media artist Kadet Kuhne. They have also
performed as part of the Definiens Project, the LA ArtFest 2005, and
SoundWalk 2005 (Long Beach). In March 2006 they will take part in An
Evening of Improvised Music at the Orange County Museum of Art. mem1
also curates the quarterly experimental music series CTRL+ALT+REAPEAT
which takes place in various venues throughout the Los Angeles area.
They have presented concerts by the Penderecki String Quartet,
Frances-Marie Uitti, David Wessel, and Mark Trayle, among others.
