Presumably you will not find the answer in Kelly Davis' "Diary of a Parachutist", but you will listen to a delicate and evocative work of microsound melting field-recordings, synthesized drones and other sources into a complex "story told thru sound". Regular visitors to INDEXOF/ already know the first three episodes of this cycle; now it is downloadable in full length. Kelly Davis is an american sound artist currently based in London. His activity ranges from concerts, installations and performances to sound for film and video works. Sonic collaborations with mzweig & kristen_ [kmh], Antoine Vehaverbeke & Mark Roberts [pistorasia / x - +], Minoru Sato [PoD] and others. Together with norwegian video artist HC Gilje he formed BLIND, an audiovisual performance group. [ Total playing time: 39' 38'' ] ------------------------------------------------------ IO/30 chladni: bleisatz ------------------------------------------------------ "Bleisatz" is the german term for the obsolete technology of hot-metal typesetting. As someone described it, in former times "...the typesetting/printing shop was characterized by noise, toxic fumes, and machine grease..." German sound artist and founder of INDEXOF/, chladni, gathered five tracks around the "bleisatz" metaphor. Proceeding from purely digital source material, basic waveforms are manipulated until they reach the point when references to concrete states and processes seem to emerge. In a rather abstract way, "bleisatz" evokes the atmosphere of those outdated typesetting/printing shops which are bearing greater resemblances to an alchemistic laboratory than to a desktop-publishing office. Like many who are interested in the art of field recording, I have a personal collection of these recordings, many no longer available and only existing on LP. I chose to present a selection from a few of my favorite. Section One is a mix made from tracks taken from the LP "Steam-In Stereo" released by the BBC. The sounds are of veteran trains taken out of storage and put on parade across the U.K. on August 31st, 1975 to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the of the Stockton and Darlington Railway. Recorded by the (often anonymous) team of BBC sound engineers sent out ac cross the U.K., recording locations included Shildon Railway Yard, Heighington Station, Heighington Cutting, Darlington Goods Yard, the Old Ordnance Depot, and Hill top Farm (south of Darlington.) Section Two is a mix from two BBC LPs, "Communication in Animals-Other Animals, a Study Record" and "British Mammals and Amphibians" The majority of these recordings were made and narrated by Eric Simms, the proto-phonographer, in the 50's and 60's. He is pictured lying in coat and slacks in a field operating a huge parabolic mic and recording device on one of the LP sleeves. These records were made as both documentary, study guide for schools, as well as sound effects record. Section Three is a mix from the LP "Antarctica" released on Saydisc in 1971. The recordings were by Edwin Mickleburgh who, although trained as a painter, joined the British Antarctic Survey as a meteorologist and was engaged in making a film for the survey. The LP represents some of the amazing recordings he made during the exhibition. (*) Bonne lecture! Bien ? vous, jef chippewa co-Directeur administratif de la CEC ----------------------------------------------------------------- The 2005 Harvest Moon Symposium which took place in Montr?al last September forms the starting point for the current issue of eContact!. Focussing on the technical, compositional and performance issues surrounding multi-channel audio, Harvest Moon 2005 featured paper presentations and concert hall performances and presentations of multi-channel works. Christopher Burns and Philippe-Aubert Gauthier's articles give the reader an effective overview of the interests of the Harvest Moon Symposium. The symposium was webcast simultaneously, and we hope to see this become a greater trend in the future. As Timothy Sutton explains, although the quality of transmission and reception available today certainly does not equal that of a live concert setting, the rapid changes in accessibility and bandwidth suggest that this will not remain an impediment for very long... ? suivre... Note that the ease of setting up and sending a webcast these days means that anyone with an internet connection can easily "tune in" to and be informed about the events in other circles of electroacoustic activities around the globe virtually immediately! In order to complement the themes of Harvest Moon, and to expand upon the idea of connecting communities of activities, we have also included some articles presented at other international conferences and events, as well as articles that are related to the themes of Harvest Moon: multi-channel sound (Kevin Austin - Why do you want so many Loudspeakers?); spatial considerations of sound (Felipe Otondo on Spatial Design and Surround 5.1); the listener's relation to the surrounding sound environment (Lisa Gasior - Soundscaping the Paramount; Phil Thomson - Soundscape Composition, Globality and Implicated Critique); and sound design in film (Phillippa Gates and Paul Rudy's analysis of Black Hawk Down; Gavin Fernandes' talk, Audio for Video). Recent works added to are succinctly considered and analysed by Kevin Austin, and finally, a few reviews (Oscillations, ICMC 2005, EuCuE) round out the issue. You can read the journal online at . Discussion of the articles is of course always welcome on ! (*) Enjoy the reading! Lowercase oriented, drone based and almost constructed enterely from field recordings taken in Argentina and Spain, 'duae' represents an inner vision of post-industrial landscapes, isolated urban spaces, empty states of mind (full of distant echoes, the memory). Pablo Reche is one of the most known Argentinean sound artists nowaddays, an excellent noise maker and drone master working on experimental music since mid 90's; he has released in many labels around the world and performed in events as Sonar Festival (2000) and Mutek Festival (2005). Ubeboet is the artist moniker of madrid based sound artist Miguel Angel Tolosa; he has released on labels NonVisualObjects, Zeromoon, Earlabs and others; collaborative works with artists Dale Lloyd, Asher, Arturas Bumsteinas among others. http://www.retinascan.de/ __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Both brought to you by and/OAR: http://www.and-oar.org/ And gosh darn it, I still don't have those mp3 samples up yet... Soon folks, soon... and/23: MNORTHAM; Automnal 2003 http://www.and-oar.org/pop_and_23.html Highly indicative of the nomadic lifestyle that international sound artist Michael Northam has come to know over the past 5 or so years, this release represents a sonic recollection of his life dispersed across a vast geography, pinpointing three specific locations and moments from his long journey: - Glacier du Trient, Switzerland / France - Eagle Creek, Indianapolis - Ils Grosbois, Montreal At times, this hypnotic release presents meditative, invigorating, and eerie translations of places and experiences in ways that only Northam can poetically convey. Originally dispersed among friends in 2003, as a limited edition "spontaneous document" CDR, this work is now re-issued on CD by and/OAR, so it can finally be heard by a larger audience. And deservedly so. and/24: TAYLOR DEUPREE / KENNETH KIRSCHNER / TOMAS KORBER/ STEINBRUCHEL/AARON XIMM: May 6, 2001 On the night of Sunday, May 6, 2001, composer Kenneth Kirschner, as part of a series of pieces documenting the sounds of different New York City neighborhoods, took his tape recorder to the Financial District of Lower Manhattan to begin field recordings for a new piece. The resulting low-resolution portrait captured the sounds of a deserted urban landscape: the empty, winding streets of old Dutch New Amsterdam, its modern, towering skyscrapers -- and a region of the city that, several months later, would be renamed Ground Zero. and/OAR is proud to present "May 6, 2001", a collection of five interpretations by five renowned contemporary composers of the aforementioned field recording portrait. With excerpts from Kirschner's original 2001 composition based on the field recording, the CD also includes pieces by Taylor Deupree (USA), Tomas Korber (Switzerland), Ralph Steinbr?chel (Switzerland), and Aaron Ximm (aka Quiet American; USA), all utilizing the 2001 Financial District field recording as their sole source material. The result is a project that obliquely and subtly evokes the source recording and its subsequent meanings, while also standing on its own as an estimable example of each artist's mastery of his craft. As usual, thanks for your time! Best Regards, Dale and/OAR: http://www.and-oar.org/ -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... He has been releasing music under the name Kubik (2 albums) as well as in many other projects. "Oblique Musique" and "Metamorphosia" albums recorded as Kubik showed up a musician deeply inspired by cinema and also by a great variety of music, from eastern europe folk to contemporary drum'n'bass. This alloy allowed Kubik to develop a very personalized and surrealistic sound, which defies the listener imagination with a wave of references sequenced in a way that take shape in the form of musical pieces. "Infinite Territory" is his new release. It is a departure from earlier works, because here Victor Afonso decided to explore electronic music more close to the IDM genre. It is obvious from "Infinite Territory" that musicians like Amon Tobin or Aphex Twin play an important role as sources of inspiration. This EP is very well balanced between ambient soundscapes and bursts of drill'n'bass, showing Kubik at the maximum of his skills and inspiration. From phantasmagorical pieces like "Bona Fide", to kinetically unstable tracks like "Infernis", "Plus Ultra" and the surrealistic "Non Hilum" (perhaps the track more related with his previous works), Kubik shows up his personal view of what electronic music (or IDM) can be, with a great capability to create images in the mind of the listener, rather than being purely another kind of dance music. "Infinite Territory" is therefore a kind of a soundtrack of a lost science-fiction movie, lost in the outskirts of the galaxy (or, more precisely, of the mind), exploring lost territories and lost spirals that liewithin the more pristine forces of nature.?/ - C?sar A. Gerne kann nat?rlich auch das komplette Spiel auf Gro?bildleinwand geschaut werden, Anstoss ist 21.00h. Al Margolis was one of the prime movers in the legendary cassette underground scene of the 1980s (between 1984 and 1991 his Sound Of Pig label released over 300 cassettes of music by the likes of Merzbow, Costes, Amy Denio, John Hudak and Jim O'Rourke) and is the eminence grise behind twenty years of music under the name If, Bwana. He is the man behind the Pogus label, as well as label manager for Deep Listening, XI Records, and Mutable Music. He has recorded and/or performed with Pauline Oliveros, Ione, Joan Osborne, Adam Bohman, Ellen Christi, Fred Lonberg-Holm, Jane Scarpantoni, Ulrich Krieger, David First, Dave Prescott, Hal McGee, Sarah Weaver, Hudson Valley Soundpainting Ensemble, and Amoeba (Raft) Boy, Monique Buzzart?, Katherine Liberovskaya, among others. A recent review of Margolis1s work says: "Let it be declared that Al Margolis/If, Bwana is some sort of evil genius working with raw materials which are never adapted to a genre or a context, because they create one in that very moment. Those sources are radically altered up to an utterly unrecognizable state, anarchic manifestations moving in compact determination." A "netlabel" is a web-based distributor of music that charges nothing for the music it promotes. Though the concept seems to not only flout but upend conventional wisdom about how a record label functions, there are hundreds of these enterprising organizations around the globe, the significant majority of them focusing on electronic music." ... "To dig a little deeper into the subject, I ran a short-term discussion group earlier this year with the administrators of three exemplary netlabels. As with a previous Disquiet-based online discussion ("After 'Thursday Afternoon,'" on the 20th anniversary of the Brian Eno album), the conversation transpired in private via an Internet-based forum, and what appears below is a transcription that was lightly edited after the dialog had reached its natural conclusion. The participants were Andras Hargitai of Complementary Distribution , based out of Budapest, Hungary; Nathan Larson of Dark Winter, based out of Minnetonka, Minnesota; and Pedro Leitao of Test Tube, based out of Lisbon, Portugal. Over the course of a couple of weeks, the discussion ranged from the theoretical to the practical, at times serving as a sounding board, at others as a technical support group, as Hargitai, Larson and Leitao discussed the cost of free downloads, the online community of uploaders and the transition from physical distribution to virtual." - By Marc Weidenbaum at Disquiet.com You can read more here: http://disquiet.com/netlabel3.html I would like to thank Marc that I could take part in this discussion, it was indeed an experience. Greets to Pablo and Nathan, the other label admins. I am hoping to see more discussions like this in the netlabel scene. cheers, Andras Bitlab/Cod From andrew at andrew-duke.com Sun Jun 18 23:20:02 2006 From: andrew at andrew-duke.com (Andrew Duke) Date: Mon, 19 Jun 2006 00:20:02 -0300 Subject: [Microsound-announce] Andrew Duke--Consumer vs. User remix competition now "live" Message-ID: <449617E2.9000104@andrew-duke.com> Hello, microsounders. The two gather data, photos, sound, and other materials on their daily walks and upload them to the internet, to compare their respective residences. Next Sunday they'll take their collaboration across the pond, participating in a performative round of live file-mixing hosted at London's E:vent and organized by Furthernoise and curator Roger Mills. The curious can visit the space to witness the actions unfolding and see large-scale projections, but those stateside or elsewhere can also go online to watch the remixers work. At the end of the initial session, as Alex Young constructs post-performance soundscapes, audience members can also participate by uploading their own files and mashing-up their own MP3s or maps. In this work, titled 'Love them, Hate them', Cordal accompanies himself by Maureen Kinnear, the voice that serves as a pendulum for the sampled sound oscillations which Isaac works on and filters out. In this EP, which takes us into the fantastic world of Antye Greie's (AGF) e-poetry, and also to several cities, Maina sampled the most intimate and inhabited urbanity, the pain, the innocence, the screams and the revolt, which are here transformed and (re)created in a complete exercise of emotional self-closure. But neither can it be what is present, for the present has no duration." (st. augustine, 386 ad) entr'acte (2006) is a loose concept-ep inspired by time perception theories done with the help of a vintage commodore C64 (8580-SID-chip) and some time-stretching algorythms. this reduced equipment allows entr'acte to concentrate on what warten intends to do: making uncompromisingly minimal music. warten (german for "waiting") was founded 1997 by oliver diedrich and susanne winterling as zweiwarten. after zweiwarten's splitting in 2000, oliver diedrich went on solo as warten. he founded one of the first mp3-labels dedicated to experimental electronica, siebter.de (2001-03). under the moniker of warten, he pursues the vision of a straightforward minimalism influenced by the likes of pan sonic, (early) cabaret voltaire, jeff mills etc. but with a distinctive personal touch. Artist :: Eric La Casa Title :: Air.Ratio cat.no: Sirr 0026 Limited edition: 250 Air Ratio It all started in 1994, in a bathroom. An air vent above the bathtub attracted my attention. There, in the dusty environment, air became noise, music. Microphones were brought into contact with this acoustic territory to transmit the sonority of the aeraulic device directly. Since that day, I have been attentive to the flow of air in the modern architecture. This CD presents a selection of sound recordings made in Paris in buildings of various ages and dimensions. Without seeking to itemize mechanized ventilation systems in any methodical manner, I was interested in documenting their sonic and musical qualities. My approach wasn't strictly scientific, but nor was it primarily musical. All the sound recordings were made using a boom and of a pair of condenser microphones. Direct contact with the material was avoided. The recordings were subsequently assembled and equalized to optimize their abstract qualities, i.e. I sought to emphasize only sonic particularities related to the acoustics of the point of listening, not events related to the external movements (sounds of doors, or voices): a listening devoid of both context and reference. (Eric La Casa, 2006) Please find the complete information and excerpts to download at: http://www.sirr-ecords.com/cat/026.html Eric La Casa ?My work is just as much to interrogate the perception of reality as it is to expand the idea of what music consists of today.? Born in 1968, Eric La Casa has been distinguishingly recognized as a fundamental sound artist dealing with landscape and sound environment issues through a radical and highly personal exploration of microphones, installations, speakers and records. Associate producer for France Culture, French national radio. La Casa?s work is a research into the question of listening: from the landscape (the concept) to the field recording. BOCA RATON / MARTIJN TELLINGA Biography and other usefull information Martijn Tellinga (1974, Netherlands) is a composer and sound-artist in the field of new electro-acoustic music and sonic arts. His work shows a great care for textural qualities and eye for compositoric detail and seeks its identity somewhere in the overlap of forced form and intuitive musicmaking. Under his given name Tellinga has collaborated with several filmmakers, video-artists and autonome artists, providing soundtracks for animated ? and short films and developing installation-like media environments. He has worked with a.o. Finnish filmmaker and journalist Sami Kallinen, autonome artists Jan Robert Leegte and Sagi Groner and is currently developing an integrated audio-visual performance with Austrian video-artist Dextro. His ongoing project ?Boca Raton? (?at the mouth of the mouse?) particularly deals with the symbioses between concrete ?unstaged- sound and synthetic sonorities. As it has never shown any steady state what-so-ever, the project develops over time according to the composer?s ideas and capacities, within the flexibalised margins of this field of interest. More than relying on melody, harmony and rhythm, these soundworks are constructed from the fundamental building blocks of music: texture, volume and time-elapse. As Boca Raton developed over time, the concrete-acoustic aspect has gradually shifted from sounding information to control-data, distilled from the outer-sounding world. This data is used to outline and define structures, textural qualities and gestural development for mostly synthetic sound. Complementary, Tellinga has enriched these work through composing for quadraphonic and multichannel environments. In the past years his work has been played and performed at stages in the Netherlands and international festivals in Belgium, France, Finland, UK, Swiss, Portugal, Greece and USA. Works have been commisioned by labels such as ? Korm Plastics - (Hol), ? Spekk - (Japan) , -Cronica Electronica - (Portugal) and -Stichting Mixer - (Hol). Together with Dutch composers Radboud Mens and Danny de Graan he forms ?Elmgar Ten?, building soundinstalltions functioning as performance-tools. Furthermore he has recently started an electro-instrumental collaboration with percussionist Jon Mueller, to explore the musical dialogue between the instrumentalist and realtime computer-instruments. Since September 2003, Tellinga has been studying Sonology at the Royal Conservatory The Hague - Netherlands, where he subsequently will do his Masters-studies in 2005-2007. In 1999 he started the platform for contemporary electro-acoustic music Stichting Mixer, having organised numerous events and released over 25 titles today. Finally, he is programmer for the Dutch new music radiostation ?De Concertzender?, being one of the 4 programmers for ?230 Volt?, a weekly program focussing on historic and contemporary electro-acoustic music. Message-ID: <57451522df281c2ff5856a67e4287467@3particles.com> 12K / LINE JUNE 05, 2006 new release: artist: ALVA NOTO title: FOR cat.no: LINE_026 edition: 1000 info: This alva noto CD brings together disparate recordings created thoughout the last four years, unified under a theme of dedication. All nine studies share the history of being made specifically for someone or for a project that for one reason or another remained open ended. ?wall anfang? for example, opens with a the voice sample ?there must be a reason why it is so clear in my mind.? When we realize the person speaking is pioneering contemporary Canadian photographer Jeff Wall, we may understand the rising high tone that intoduces the track as the immitation of a photo-flash warming up to be triggered. The track was originally prepared for a documentary about Wall, who became famous for his large scale light boxes that cast white light evenly through his photographs. Like this balanced light, the track presents a purity of thought, that spirals inside and out, the voice of Wall breaking only impartially this conjecture of sound, while adding an atmosphere of introspection and study to the piece. The percussive, almost marimba like sounds of the track ?jr? echo the woodcutting of Japanese printmaker Katsushika Hokusai, (whose work Wall allegorized in his photograph A Sudden Gust of Wind (after Hokusai),1993). The stark, poised three point intervals of sound bring to mind the intricate and equisitely considered compositions of Hokusai1s style of Ukiyo-e 3pictures of the floating world.2 Jhonn Balance1s premature death in 2004 gave way to multiple dedications to his life and music by people who took influence from his activities in Coil. The track ?odradek? was originally prepared for the tribute record ...It Just Is (In Memoriam: Jhonn Balance). Nicolai worked with Balance when commissioning him for the award winning release 20? to 2000 a CD set for the last 20 minutes of the year 1999. These diverse engagements come to rest within this release. Like the image that seals the font cover of the CD, that depicts liquid oscillating with various frequencies, we are reminded that sound can give form to image and to thought and that it may continue to resonate in absences, particles, or processes?until a point of final closure. ? Andrew Cannon ? Carsten Nicolai (b.1965, Karl-Marx-Stadt, Germany) fuses sight and sound in minimal installations and sculptures. His work suggests the atmosphere of an alchemist?s laboratory where sound is converted into frequencies, pitches, pops and pulses. Working outside the bounds of representation and art history, he often composes arrangements using signal tones and the sounds of communication data. These arrangements are released under the name alva noto in the music field where he is also known. Prior to working with sound, he originally studied landscape design. His performances and installation works have been shown in museums and galleries around the world including recently at the Tate Modern (London, UK), Centre Pompidou (Paris, France), YCAM (Yamaguchi, Japan). He has collaborated with such artists as Ryuchi Sakamoto, Scanner and with Frank Bretschneider and Olaf Bender as Signal. Works by Alva Noto have been released on numerous international labels including Raster-Noton and Mille Plateaux. new release artist: RICHARD CHARTIER + TAYLOR DEUPREE title: SPECIFICATION.FIFTEEN cat.no: LINE_027 edition: 1000 LINE is proud to present the first full length collaboration by Richard Chartier and Taylor Deupree since 1999?s Spec. (12k). For this collaboration, sound artists Richard Chartier and Taylor Deupree were invited by the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden, Washington, DC, to create a new live work inspired by the Seascapes series of renowned Japanese photographer Hiroshi Sugimoto on the occasion of his retrospective exhibition. The result is this live recording, Specification.Fifteen. This work premiered on March 30, 2006 in front of the curved panoramic window of the Museum1s Lerner Room as the sun set across the city1s skyline. Specification.Fifteen evokes the stillness and opposing yet related spaces of Sugimoto1s Seascapes, which suggest infinitesimal change and variation under a seemingly uniform surface. Mystery of mysteries, water and air are right there before us in the sea. Every time I view the sea, I feel a calming sense of security, as if visiting my ancestral home; I embark on a voyage of seeing. ? Hiroshi Sugimoto Richard Chartier, sound/installation artist and graphic designer, has created critically acclaimed recordings for labels such as 12k/LINE (USA), Trente Oiseaux (Germany), Spekk (Japan), Mutek_rec (Canada), DSP (Italy), and ERS (NL), and Fallt (Ireland), including collaborations with artists Taylor Deupree, William Basinski, and COH, and has appeared on numerous international compilations. His digital minimalist work explores the inter-relationships between the spatial nature of sound, silence, focus, and the act of listening. Chartier?s sound works and sound installations have been presented internationally including at the exhibits Sounding Spaces at ICC (Tokyo, Japan), I Moderni / The Moderns at Castello di Rivoli (Torino, Italy), 2002 Biennial at the Whitney Museum of American Art (NY), Resynthesis at The Art Institute of Chicago and with the travelling sound exhibit Invisible Cities created by digital media curators Fehler as well as solo and collaborative installations for Fusebox (DC), 1515 Arts/G Fine Art (DC), Die Schachtel (Milan, Italy), and Diapason (NY). He has performed his work live across Europe, Japan, and North America at MUTEK (Montreal, Canada), GRM/Maison de Radio France (Paris, France), Observatori (Valencia, Spain), DEAF (Dublin, Ireland), Transmediale (Berlin, Germany), Lovebytes (Sheffield, UK), The Leeds International Film Festival (Leeds,UK), The Rotterdam International Film Festival (NE), Garage (Stralsund, Germany), La Batie (Geneva, switzerland), and other noted digital art/music festivals and at exhibits such as Frequenzen [Hz] at the Schirn Kunsthalle (Frankfurt) and A Minimal Future? Art as Object 1958-1968 and Visual Music: Syneasthesia in Art and Music Since 1900 at the Museum of Contemporary Art (Los Angeles). In 2000 he formed the recording label LINE and has since curated its continuing documentation of compositional and installation work by international sound artists and composers exploring the aesthetics of contemporary and digital minimalism. The premiere release on LINE, Chartier?s Series as awarded Honorable Mention in the category of Digital Music by the prestigious Prix Ars Electronica, 2001 (Austria).? Taylor Deupree is a sound artist, graphic designer, and photographer residing in Brooklyn, New York. On January 1st, 1997, he founded 12k, music label that focuses on digital minimalism and contemporary forms. In 12k1s 8 years of existance it has released 35 CDs and become one of the most respected experimental electronic labels in the world. In January 1999, Deupree currated a compilation for New York1s Caipirinha Music label that he called 3Microscopic Sound.2 This release was among the first to gather together artists of this style and helped put a name to a rising genre of electronic music. September, 2000, saw the launch of 12k?s sublabel LINE, with collaborator Richard Chartier, exploring conceptual, ultra-minimalist digital sound and the relationship between sound, silence and the art of listening. In September, 2003, Deupree started a 3rd label called Happy to release what he terms as 3unconventional japanese pop.2 Happy was born from Deupree1s interest in Japanese pop music and the fact that it is quite unknown outside of Japan. He hopes to change that with Happy. Over the past 12 years Deupree has recordedfor a number of other labels around the world including Spekk (Japan), Ritornell/Mille Plateaux, Raster-Noton, Disko-b, (Germany), Sub Rosa (Belgium), BineMusic (Germany), F?llt (Ireland), and Audio.NL (Netherlands). Instinct Records, Caipirinha Music, Plastic City (USA), and Dum (Finland), among others. Deupree has received much critical acclaim and recognition for his early musical projects including the techno and ambient sounds of Prototype 909, SETI, Human Mesh Dance, and Futique (1992-1996) and has many recording accomplishments and a substantial discography. His design work has appeared on dozens of record labels around the world and published in a number of design books in Japan and the UK. For the past 8 years Deupree?s music has taken influences from his passion for architecture, photography, and interior design and collaborative work with other musicians has played a large part in his output. Combining his computer techniques with guitarists (Christopher Willits), Pianists (Kenneth Kirschner) and vocalists (Sawako Kato) has pushed his sound in new directions and lead to one of the most pivotal recordings of his career: a complete re-working on an album by the acoustic, alternative/pop band Eisi from Japan. Such work has broadened Deupree?s scope while helping to push modern electronic music into new frontiers. R I C H A R D C H A R T I E R http://www.3particles.com chartier at 3particles.com <<< CD .
