Jewell & Company Dance Theatre and Incus Arts are please to present
"Ecotone: A Voodoo Cabaret", with performances in August at UNM's
Theatre X. This event is a collaboration of improvised dance, theater
and music between the experimental music ensemble Incus and the
multi-talented performers of Jewell & Company Dance Theatre.

An ecotone is the overlap where two worlds meet. In other words, a
borderland, a place where anything can happen. Ecotone is a dance
theatre work about borders and borderlands. It is a freewheeling
improvisational performance using contemporary dance technique
and theatrical elements blended with a live electronic and acoustic
soundscape. It is a fusion of spontaneous expressions using
gestures, sounds, streaming data feeds, props and words, and a bit of audience
participation.

Incus Arts is an experimental music ensemble founded in 2004 by Kevin Paul,
Mike Berry and Rufus Cohen. They make extensive use of computers,
electronics and improvisational techniques. "Ecotone" features Cohen
on extended guitars, voice and concertina and Paul on sampler, live
sampling, voice and percussion.

Jewell & Company Dance Theater was founded in 1989 by artistic
director Donna Jewell. With performances in various venues in Boston,
Chicago, New York, Austria, Germany, and Finland, the company has
expanded its repertory from works for the stage to outdoor site
specific videos and live performances. Donna Jewell is the Head of
Dance at the University of New Mexico and is a contributing writer to
Attitude Magazine.
