AUGUST SPECIAL EVENT
DE SONIS Vol 7
[no.signal] & in collaboration with sprawl presents:
date: tues August 15th
CHRISTOPHER WILLITS (Ghostly/12k/fallt) - live
Accomplished bay-area guitarist and multimedia artist Christopher Willits
records for the Ghostly International, 12k, Sub Rosa and Plop labels.
Applying a custom-made spectrum of signal processing to his guitars, Willits
has earned consistent praise for his fluid compositions and complex textures,
as well as his technologically innovative spirit. His work ranges from sweet
avant-pop songs to cerebral glitch experimentation to the full-on noise attacks
of Flssin, for which he has collaborated with
Kid606, Matmos and Zach Hill (Hella).
Having earned his Masterís degree in Electronic
Music working alongside the likes
of Fred Frith and Pauline Oliveros, Willits has become part of the vanguard of
modern electronic music. A frequent collaborator, Willits has recently worked
with Taylor Deupree (12k), Latrice Barnett (Solo, Handsome Boy Modeling
School), Paul D'Amour (Tool, Feersum Ennjin), and Ryuichi Sakamoto (Sony).
Willits is also the founder of Overlap.org, a
lens, meeting point, and distribution
node for multimedia artists around the world. Through this outlet he directs
regular events in the northern California music community like the OVERLAP
and the LISTEN music series, showcasing a wide diversity of multimedia
artists and styles.
